Brno Circuit Hosts TCR Europe Debut and Showcases Formula 1 Cars

The European touring car series, Gran Turismo cars, and single-seater races. This weekend, September 7th and 8th, Automotodrom Brno will be the venue for the traditional automotive event Masaryk Racing Days. The packed program will feature a total of 14 races over two days with strong international participation.

For the first time in history, fans in Brno will witness the prestigious touring car championship TCR Europe. This championship features modified production cars from many global brands. “These races are particularly attractive due to the competitiveness of the field. With the standardized car specifications, the results are unpredictable, and spectators can look forward to frequent battles between the drivers. Especially now, as the season is nearing its end. Every point could determine the overall winner,” invites Miroslav Bartoš, the CEO of Automotodrom Brno, to the weekend races of the pan-European series. The battle at the top of the championship is close, with Franco Girolami and Aurélien Comte tied in points after eight races.

At the Masaryk Circuit, the drivers of the championship will race alongside the partner series TCR Eastern Europe. Here, the duo of team colleagues from Hyundai / Janík Motorsport, Maťo Homola and Adam Kout, will vie for victory. “This is definitely another big plus for the spectators. The fuller the starting grid, the more exciting the race we can expect,” adds Bartoš.

The titles will be definitively decided in the races of Gran Turismo cars and sports prototypes, featuring prominent names among domestic drivers. Former European Truck Racing Champion Adam Lacko will take the wheel of the Mercedes AMG GT4. “I really like the Brno circuit; it’s a track with a rich history and always a great atmosphere. I want to show everyone that Buggyra is ready to fight for the top positions and bring joy to all our fans,” says the Buggyra ZM Racing driver about his start. Visitors will also see Petr Fulín with an Audi LMS GT3, and a pair of Lamborghini Huracan SuperTrofeo EVO2 cars from the domestic team Mičánek Motorsport.

Formula racing enthusiasts can look forward to a double dose of action. During the Masaryk Racing Days, the single-seaters of Division 2 and the F4 CEZ Championship will go into intense competition. This championship features young drivers and will include a strong domestic presence. Max Karhan, Miroslav Mikeš, and Marek Mičík will take the wheel of the Abarth 1.4T-engined single-seaters. Driver Michelle Jandová was sidelined at the last minute due to an injury during training. The championship leader is Oscar Wurz, son of former Formula 1 driver Alexander Wurz.

The weekend will be spiced up with an F1 exhibition

The organizers have prepared a rich accompanying program for the spectators. Over the weekend, former Formula 1 single-seaters and other interesting machines will take to the track a total of six times during the exhibition.
Before the main Sunday race, a sports aircraft exhibition is scheduled. “Visitors can also enjoy a scenic helicopter flight and experience the races from a different perspective,” adds Jana Božková, the event manager at Automotodrom Brno.

There will also be an exhibition of racing specials from the famous Dakar Rally, a car simulator, a Friday trivia quiz, and a Saturday talk show with the Masaryk Circuit announcer Martin Straka.
